What is LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® (LSP) ?
LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® is a method for exploring and dealing with real issues and challenges in real time.
LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® is a technique where people use LEGO® bricks to follow through a series of structured exercises during which they build things that represent metaphorically their personal or business challenges.

LEGO® promotes “Build Their Dreams” in their products. With LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® method, we are able to build dreams, visions or any concepts using bricks. This innovative methodology combines gamification, constructivism and imagination which breaks through all the traditional problem-solving techniques.
Background
The idea of the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® methodology originated in 1996 when the two professors Johan Roos and Bart Victor at IMD in Switzerland and LEGO Group CEO and owner Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen were exploring alternative strategic planning tools and systems. They developed an understanding of the value of employees and the concept of an evolving, adaptive strategy that included using LEGO elements as three-dimensional models of business issues and challenges. The strategy was named LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY®.
Certified Facilitator
The key person in LSP is the facilitator, who is responsible for the program design, facilitation and choosing the best LEGO® set. In the year 2010, LEGO® Group released LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® and redefined it as an open sourced methodology. Which means that everyone outside of LEGO® Group can use this method. But, in order to maintain the standard and proper skills, Master Trainers in the LEGO SERIOUS PLAY Method keeps hosting LSP facilitator courses everywhere in the world to certify facilitators who completed the 4-day intensive training.

As LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® becomes more and more popular, there are a lot of so-called “certified facilitator courses” being held by some facilitators, instead of Master Trainers. The course content is somehow similar. But without Master Trainer, the quality is questionable.

Master Edutainment的創辦人 Jason 是香港其中一位最活躍的 LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® Certified Facilitator，2016年於韓國跟隨 Per Kristiansen （Master Trainer ）學習LSP引導技巧，現積極應用LSP於企業、社工和教師的培訓。2020年與著名社工叢書作者黃幹知先生合作編寫了第一本關於 LEGO® 應用於培訓和活動反思的書藉 - 《玩樂手築：40個積木活動》，並開辦公開課程教授各種應用積木的小組和集體遊戲，令LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY®在香港更加廣為人知。
LSP予人一種高深又神秘的印象，Jason 解釋因為LSP在應用在不同的人物和情景上會出現很多變化，但從技巧而言，認為萬變不離其宗，當中最重要的是要掌握「互動循環」，加上Facilitator的細心觀察和引導，參加者就能夠做到「用雙手思考、用眼睛說話」。Jason進一步解釋LSP不是一項「訓練」（Training），是協助參加者說話、表遠、互動的「方法」 (Methodology)，不是說把LEGO放在枱上，然後把流程走一次就能做到效果的，參加者是主體，Facilitator是輔助，用適當的鋪排和引導讓參加者領悟，甚至互相啟發。
LSP互動循環： 提出問題 → 拼出想法 → 互相分享 → 反思學習
完整的LSP workshop可能會用上一整天，甚至更多的時間，但礙於現時很多培訓項目只容許半天甚至一兩小時的長度，Jason特別設計了一系列簡化的套包，令他在培訓的時間控制上更具彈性。
LSP可以在多種情況下運用到，除了培訓之外，亦會在會議、「度橋」(Brainstorming) 甚至面試上使用，而Jason最常面對的是Team Building Workshop，他提出應用LEGO在Team Building上的主因是可以帶來新鮮感，「先吸引了參加者，再引 導他們行前一步！」。他引述Workshop後參加者的反應，「多數活動後都會拍一張幾十人的大合照，想不到這次在完結時卻是LEGO大合照！」Jason說多數培訓都會用紙筆Powerpoint，他的LSP就只有LEGO，一切的說話都投射在LEGO的造型、顏色、數量甚至距離上，參加者一開始以為「玩玩下」，到最後參加者都對枱上的積木難離難捨。
FAQ
LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® 所用的 LEGO® 積木有甚麼不同？
LSP 使用的其實都是平常的LEGO® 積木，但Facilitator會根據工作坊的目的而選用方便參加者發揮的積木。
拼砌的過程困難嗎？我自問沒有設計或藝術天份。
不困難，平常的 LEGO® 是按照說明書拼出模型，LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY®則是按照「問題」拼出你心目中的「答案」，只要放膽嘗試，每個人都能夠以有限的積木表達無限的想法。
如參加者從未接觸過LEGO®，又或者是LEGO®愛好者，對LSP工作坊有影響嗎？
其實沒有影響，Facilitator會有所鋪排，讓每位參加者好好熱身，進入LSP的世界，即使從未拼過LEGO®亦能一步一步掌握LSP互動循環（提出問題 → 拼出想法 → 互相分享 → 反思學習）。

LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® 是一個很強大 的方法/工具，但講求的其實是引導師（Faclitator）的經驗和能力，成功引發參加者之間的互動和對問題的反思，才是最終獲得啟發的方法，相反，如果引導師只根據既定流程運作，參加者或未必有所感悟。
